Philosophy of Adventurers

The Adventurer program was created toassist parents in their important responsibili-ties as a child’s primary teachers andevangelizers. The program aims tostrengthen the parent/child relationship andto further the child’s development in spiri-tual, physical, mental, and social areas.Through the Adventurer Program, thechurch, home, and school can work togetherwith the parent to develop a mature, happychild. The church’s greatest resource is ourchildren; therefore, it is imperative that as achurch we meet the challenge to provide aprogram for our children during their early, formative years. We want right habits, thoughts, motives, dispositions, and attitudesto be established. The Wise Man wrote,“Bring up a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he will not turn from it.”Prov. 22:6 (NIV). This is more than acliché—it is a scientific formula.

The Adventurer Club involves children ingrades 1-4 and their parents. The program-ming and planning for Adventurers shouldbe simple and short, but creative. Parentalinvolvement provides opportunities forparents to participate in the learning experi-ence.One of the Adventurer Club objectives isto provide a meaningful and excitingexperience as the children look forward withanticipation to some day being Pathfinders.
